Born and raised in Minot, ND, Nate has been playing piano as long as he can remember. He studied piano and trumpet and premiered two big band compositions while still in high school. He went on to attend Concordia College (Moorhead, MN), where he studied both classical and jazz piano and received a Bachelor of Music degree in theory/composition in 2010.

He has written pieces, done orchestrations and made arrangements for almost every instrument and ensemble; his music can be heard around the globe. As a classical performer, his greatest honor was being selected to play the first movement of Benjamin Britten’s Piano Concerto, Op. 13, with the Concordia Orchestra in 2010.
Music has also allowed Nate to travel the world. He set sail with Holland America Line cruise ships for three years, setting foot in more than 60 countries while playing everything from top 40 to ballroom music and serving as a bandleader. He also had the pleasure of playing production shows for guest entertainers, such as Wayne Newton and Melissa Manchester.

Nate now lives in St Paul, MN, playing and teaching music as his passion and career. He plays piano for weddings, private parties, corporate events and a variety of bands, as well as teaching kids and adults at his piano studio. In addition, he serves as music director at Atonement Lutheran Church in Bloomington. Another one of his passions is composing, arranging and recording solo piano albums.

To keep the creative juices flowing, Nate uploads 1-2 new and unique videos each week to his YouTube channel. His favorites are the ‘greatest hits’ medleys and his piano tricks, where he plays piano backwards and upside down!
