José James, is an outstanding Panamanian Multi-instrumentalist, Singer-Songwriter, Educator and Producer. His music has been featured in movies, radio and Television shows like Exiled, Jessica Simpson’s The Price Of, Daddy’s Girl, Human Giant, Things To Try Before You Die and Caribbean Carnival to name a few.
He’s a three-time Minnesota Hall of Fame inductee as a member of Willie & The Bees, Shangoya, Ipso Facto and was voted Best Brass/Reed Artist at the Minnesota Music Awards in 1994.
Born in the Canal Zone, Panamá, he moved to the United States to attend the University of Minnesota, later performing with artist like Clark Terry, Eddie Daniels, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman, Rubén Blades, UB40, Alexander O’Neal, Prince, Doc Severinsen, Paul Williams, Syl Johnson and Bernard Allison to name a few… He’s toured in the United States, Europe, Africa, Japan, Russia, Turkey, India and Kazakhstan with other artists and his own group. José has recorded and produced seven CDs on his indie label JNJ Records.
