Music has always played an important part of Mary’s life. Early interests included singing as well as organ and piano lessons. She is a graduate of Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) where she was a member of the Concordia Choir under the direction of Paul J. Christianson — one of her choir highlights was singing in Carnegie Hall.
She was a kindergarten teacher in St. Louis Park and also enjoyed her time as a piano teacher, church organist, singing in musicals and choirs, and playing for private parties and at area country clubs. Her son (Steven C.) is also a musician and she has performed with him at the Guthrie and Fitzgerald theaters. They have recorded several CDs together and they still play at various venues in the Twin Cities.
At the airport, she has played the wonderful Steinway for the past four years and especially enjoys playing requests for passengers and MSP employees. A passenger recently handed her a note which said “Hearing the piano brings us a moment of peace in a place of motion and commotion”.
